The Kinect Instrument is a new means of musical expression using 3D gestures captured by a Microsoft Kinect sensor.  The captured 3D gestures are translated into musical events and realized using Abelton, a software package for generation, composition, and performance of electronic music.  The first exploration of this project was presented at Imagine RIT and continues to be further developed by the musician and computer science collaborators. Kinect Instrument
